Protecting your dogs coat in the snow.
Let it snow…let it snow…let it snow!!!!
Let’s talk about our dogs playing in the snow!
For starters lets talk “FUR + SNOW= MESS” as most dogs love to run and play in the snow if given the chance. When they bounce into the house and you are drying them off, you will see funny looking snowballs hanging like christmas ornaments off your dogs fur. As funny as those snowballs look, they’re actually causing matts and tangles. It is best to brush them out as soon as your dog is inside and warm. A good place to do the brushing is in the tub or large laundry room sink (if you pet is small enough).
It is also important to rinse the salt in between your pooches paws so the harshness of those chemical-made de-icers don’t dry out the pads and cause cracking and pain. Afterword apply a dap of vaseline to keep them nice and moist.
Easy peasy right??? Of course, if you want to make your life easier we recommend wearing booties + sweaters, they look absolutely adorable on them!!!
And if you want to make your life a lot easier don’t forget we’re always here to help your dog with some trimming, if those tangles are too difficult to get out!!!! Or to just start over with a complete brush out, clip and bath.
Both of us will be working hard and offering our pet grooming every single day between now and Christmas (even Christmas eve when the hospital is open from 7am to 5pm)
