Dr Alvarez was born and raised in (Barquisimeto) Venezuela, where she graduated at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. In 2004 Dr Alvarez completed all requirements to practice Veterinary Medicine in North America and has been practicing in Toronto since 2007 and at Royal York since 2010. Luisa has a passion for continuing education and travel and enjoys attending veterinary conferences that take her to new and interesting locales as well as helping her to keep on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine (and bringing those ideas back to RYAH!)
Dr. Luisa Alvarez, is also a trained Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist and she is very passionate about this technique. Veterinary Acupuncture is an effective therapy that can be combined with most conventional treatments and medication.
Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturists are Veterinarians who also have comprehensive training with scientific support, knowledge and skill to understand the interactions between the different forms of treatment to address difficult medical problems.
Acupuncture is a recognized veterinary medical treatment.
Dr Alvarez loves travelling and is an avid sports fan and enjoys running in her time off but her favourite pass time is spoiling Gayle and Galley, her Labrador Retrievers!
